Art Sale, letter P, and creeping in Halloween!

Hello Purple Room Families,

So far we have gathered enough art work to open an entire gallery exclusively of our Purple Room artists and each piece you will see is one of a kind, unique in its own way, and holds its own creativity. In short, it is priceless! I would highly encourage everyone to please take out some time from their everyday schedules to come for a tour of our art exhibition/sale this week. I bet you will feel like one proud parent! At the same time, it has been very motivating for our children to have this end purpose to their work.

Our productivity continues...
Using water colors and sea salt where we dripped water colors and sprinkled sea salt over...

The next day when it dried, we scraped the sea salt away, experiencing a very different texture underneath...and before being asked, they said they wanted to save this for the art sale!

When we explained that this would be the donation collection box for all the art sale proceeds, these friends got tremendously involved to make it look very appealing and fancy...they asked me if it is going to be filled up to the top with all the money. The only answer I could provide was to prepare them for marketing, because filling the box depends on how much art we sell ;) hehehe

At the beginning of the week we did some free tape art with them which somehow got extended to the building area. Neat!

Using tape as cement to put the wooded bricks together, while some even used tape to make roads and tracks...

Last week we enjoyed playing with the orange dough and got into the mood of Halloween...

L made a pumpkin patch...

D with her orange witch nails...and her witch laugh...hehehehheheehehe

A made a pumpkin with eyes and added the stem...

S super excited to have finished his pumpkin...

PUMPKIN PIE...
Talking about the recipe, ingredients, and even some sensory exploration with the different spices...

Checking all the ingredients before stirring it up...

Whisking...

Seeing all ingredients all mixed up to the color of the spice that dominated the entire mixture...

Milk and the pumpkin that got stirred up in the end...

Talking about the crust...

Pouring time...

Ready out of the oven...

Pumpkin pie inhaling time...

Ummmmmm!

Aaaaaaa!

BYE BYE TO OUR FRIEND P...
Last Friday we said a bye to our friend P who is now going to go to the same school as his older sister. Thank you P for the Pirate Bootie and the popsicle treats...we thoroughly enjoyed it and at the same time felt sad to have you leave...

The last bye bye hugs...

FIELD TRIP TO USEGI FARMS!
We had such a fun time. Thank you all for making it and a special thank you for parents who volunteered to be chaperons...

The earthy entrance...

The long legged scarecrow..

The million billion bees (as per our friends' hypothesis about the quantity)

The cheeeeeeese moment...

The bees maze...

The train ride...

The hunt for golden pumpkins...I found them all...did you too? ;)

Hey, the hay ride...

The beautiful flower field...

The sunflower spotting time...

Exploring dried gourds...friends said they look like snakes, trumpets, aliens, horns. What power of imagination and perception!

The closing time...:)

And the posing time...

What a wonderful week!

Keep seeing you'll around,

Art Sale, letter O, and dresses

Hello Purple Room Families,

Purple Room has been blooming and blossoming with all the wonderful art that the children are making and are excited to put out for the upcoming Art Sale. They have already decided what they want to sell. Be it a solo project or a collaborative one, they are hopeful that their sale proceeds will be enough to throw their own pizza party this Halloween. It is sure an accomplishment to throw a party with all this hard earned money ;) or should I say this hard earned donated money? ;)

They have been excited to make new stuff each week and say that it is for the art sale. With all their hard work and effort, and with your presence and participation, I bet this will turn out to be as successful an event as any other! Please feel free to come over and let your child give you a tour of all the art around the classroom, talking about each project and how was it made.

Just a couple of pics of their involvement... the rest is SECRET ;)

LETTER 'O'

Letter O started with a lot of fun where friends were excited to learn how to write the letter and moreover, they went to be so creative and enhanced the letter into a picture. For example, a child wrote O and added eyes and mouth making it a smiley face, another one wrote O and added lines around it making it a sun, whereas another child wrote an O and added eight lines making it look line an octopus! These are some amazingly creative O transformations!

S making a ladybug using the letter O's

L making a circle family picture frame...

L making the sun...

Wheel, ladybug, sun, flying bug, belly button, the earth, pumpkin, and fan were some other creative creations from the letter O. Its interesting to see their knowledge of a simple letter translating into an image/picture or I would say a masterpiece of their thoughts!

We did O collages using octapi...

and we did a math activity with Cheerios where we numbered the legs of the octopus randomly and then went ahead and added the number of Cheerios equal to the number on the leg. Later we enjoyed the Cheerios as snacks!

OTHER ACTIVITIES:

During circle time we got involved in talking about the similarities and differences of people around us and later did a 'me' project where we found a person cutout matching our skin color and then dressed it up. We added their work to the art wall as name tags.

We had all this beautiful printed paper and it came with tiny metal hangers which escalated this project into making more dresses and ultimately making an entire wardrobe. We used some magnetic doll dresses or the color person as stencils to draw and then cut our own dresses and pants and shirts.

Tracing and cutting...

Hanging the dresses on hangers...

The addition of the music wall outdoors is adding to our daily beats!

Working with shapes and figuring out to put then together on the template...

We read the book about Elmer the Patchwork Elephant and made our own elephant illustration...

Overall with some accomplished projects as well as continuing ones, we are ready to face our next week with continued dedication and surprises!

Sorry to have delayed this blog by a week,
Keep seeing you'll around,
