Mailing & writing excitement, Christmas Decorations, and letter 'D'!

Last week we almost finished our letter writing and will be mailing them out soon. They have been super excited to write those long letters proudly addressing you all!

We are already working towards Christmas by starting with decorations. The first thing the children noticed and brought to my attention when we put up our December calendar was the Christmas Day tag. They said that we should start making decorations right away. The foremost project was the Christmas tree, so we worked towards making and decorating one step by step. We will continue to make different ornaments/ decorations to add them on our tree.

Collecting sticks...

Putting it together and painting...

Adding leaves....

We also made a wreath from scratch.

Started with joining different stems/branches to get a circle shaped foundation and tied it together with pipe cleaners...

Adding more sticks to make it rich and fluffy...

Adding decorations to it...

We will continue to work on our tree and wreath decoration for next week too!

Lately, we have been having fun with our rainbow tunnel outdoors. They have always used it to climb through and (with the help of a friend) push/roll around. Last week we tried something new and kept the tunnel in a vertical position and tried our best to get inside it. Our wise friends tried so many moves, didn't give up, and their initiatives finally paid off!

Trying different moves to get in...

Figuring out ways to come out...

Last week for letter D we made our uppercase letter 'D' collages (dot art, dog, duck, dinosaur, letter D stickers), and with the lowercase 'd', we made daisies.

Last week's highlight was our Pajama 'D'ay with a 'D'rink of hot chocolate! A perfect comfy winter combo :-)

Talking about cocoa powder as a source of Zinc (continuing our discussion of nutrients)...

Observing sugar dissolve in warm milk, but the color of the milk remaining the same...

adding cocoa powder...

seeing the brown cocoa float and anticipating what color will the milk turn after stirring in...

Brown!!! Well some were even more specific and said, "light brown!"

Our most comfy pajama day moment... say Pajama Dayyyyyyyy!!!

On Friday December 20th both Purple Room and Blue Room friends will be performing: moving and singing to holiday songs. Please come and join us with family and friends to make it more lively and encouraging for our preschoolers. This performance is open to all preschool children and families, whether or not you usually come on Fridays.

Hope you had a good weekend!

Warmly,
Rashida.
