Thanksgiving and letter 'T'

Last week we shared everyday about things that we are Thankful for and at the same time awaited for our Thanksgiving potluck. The kids were happy to know about the long vacation they would be spending with friends and family. We kept up with the dates, doing a countdown on our classroom calendar. We had fun making our handprint Turkey and listing and drawing things that we are Thankful for.

Our friend D wanted to make some decorations for Hanukkah. We asked him what should we do, and he said that we should make six-pointed stars. Everybody wanted to make one and wanted to hang them up in honor of the holiday. D also spoke a little about the Menorah and shared with friends a Happy Hanukkah card that he had gotten. While making the stars, we spoke about making two Triangles, and then putting them together. We thought about how many sides a triangle has and keeping that in mind, worked to make one Triangle at a time.

As we kept adding, we kept counting!

Thank you to E for coming and volunteering to read books on Hanukkah and Thanksgiving!

For the letter of the week, T, we did activities like knowing to Tell the Time by the hour, letter T collage (Tapes; cutouts of T-rex and Table; stickers from the Two-thousand years such as 2004; stamps of Train, Trucks, Turtle, Teddy bear, and numbers like Two, Three and Ten) and drawing things in our journals that start with the letter T (Tree, Triangle, etc.).

Time...

Working on our real classroom clock was super exciting!

Last week, Teacher Richa was putting away a tarp that was lying in our outdoor area. She saw it was full of worms. One call, and our explorers ran to discover whatever they could. Soon they were handy with buckets and shovels to make the best of the collection they could, finding the thickest to the tiniest worm, the shortest to the longest worm :)

At the end, we added more dirt to the bucket of worms and put it aside to look at it later. We spoke a little about how earthworms are farmers' best friends.

Thank you parents for taking all the time and effort to get the yummy food for our table. Our Thanksgiving feast was awesome!!!

Hope you all had gobbles and gobbles of fun and a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Warmly,
Rashida.
